TOC III in the NEWS!

TITANS OF THE CAGE III RETURNS TO WYTHEVILLE

On Saturday, October 22nd, local mixed martial arts fighters will test their fighting skills at Titans of the Cage III.  The event returns to George Wythe High School, where it held its first ever mixed martial arts cage fighting event on September 11, 2010.

The event will once again feature some of the areas most highly skilled fighters who will put their talents on display inside the cage, hoping to position themselves at the top of their respective weight classes and earn themselves an opportunity for a future title fight.

Titans of the Cage III expects to see the overall talent level of its fighters continue to rise, now that it has already held two successful shows and has established itself as being a fully sanctioned event that is not only promoted locally,  but also promoted by the Global Combat Alliance, who also sanctioned the first two TOC events.

With several local fighters stepping inside the cage looking to showcase their MMA fighting skills and prove they are a top competitor in their weight class, the theme for the event seems to fit very well.  Fans attending Titans of the cage #3 “Quest for the Best” can expect to see local fighters, as well as fighters from other areas of Virginia and from surrounding states.

Included in the local talent will be several local fighters as well as fighters from surrounding areas.  Some of the teams and schools that will be represented include; Southwest Martial Arts Academy (Team SWMA) of Wytheville, VA,  Mt. Airy Combat & Fitness of Mt. Airy, NC,  Top Notch Fight Team of Indian Trail, NC,  Team Mannon of Christiansburg, VA,  Team Advantage of Bluefield, WV,  Tech MMA of Christiansburg, VA, Team No-Limit of Henderson, NC and Team Iron Lock of Big Stone Gap, VA,  plus more.

In one of the evenings featured bouts, Team SWMA fighter and two-time National Jiu-Jitsu champion, McKensey Heath will bring an undefeated 2-0 record into the cage to face Henderson, NC fighter, Joseph Shearin.  With 13 official MMA bouts behind him, Shearin is by far the most experienced young fighter in the Eastern Region of the U.S.  With an MMA record of 9-4, the 18 year old Shearin already holds two title belts in other fighting promotions.  In what many people consider to be a battle between the top two young fighters in the Eastern region, Shearin and Heath will finally meet inside the cage to in a long awaited and much anticipated battle of young, sensational fighting talents.

Heath’s Jiu-Jitsu Instructor and Team SWMA Head Coach, Sensei Greg Ring stated; “This match-up has been in the making for quite some time now.  Joe Shearin is a young man that has taken on all comers and is coming off of two big wins, including a dominant performance in TOC #2 where he stopped Team Ironlock fighter Mark Jones who came in undefeated with a 3-0 record.  He is by far the most experienced MMA fighter his age, but McKensey is training hard and welcomes the challenge and is thankful for the opportunity to finally face Joe inside the cage at TOC #3.”

Titans of the Cage III will also showcase a female MMA bout as part of the evenings fight card.  The bout will feature  19 year old, Charity Walker making her MMA debut inside the cage.  Walker, of Pilot Mtn, NC, will face Taylor Miller of Knoxville, TN.  Miller won an exciting three round decision against now professional fighter, Ashley Nee at TOC #1, also held at George Wythe, H.S. last September.

Local fight fans can expect plenty of exciting, hard hitting mixed martial arts action at Titans of the Cage III, October 22, at George Wythe H.S. in Wytheville, VA.   Doors open at 5:30 P.M. and fights start promptly at 7:00 P.M.  Concessions will be provided by the George Wythe H.S. band boosters.

The Titans of the Cage mission for its events is to place top priority on fighter safety and hold events that focus on “the martial arts” element of mixed martial arts (MMA) fighting.  Fighters, as well as coaches and fans who attend TOC events are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner which would be pleasing to the martial arts.
